Hello! My name is Adjective and I can help you to describe different things, objects, people
Today I am going to help to describe my friends. They are the houses with different characters and traits.
Let me introduce my friends:
They are:
Jill, Jale and Jole
Jill is always happy.
Jole is sometimes sad
Jale is often angry at Jill and Jole.
Can you find Jale?
Yeah! You are right.
Jale is short, brown,
with a dark blue roof.
Can you find Jill?
Is Jill short?
Is JIll brown?
Is Jill a cosier if compare with Jale?
And what is Jole?
Remember!
If you want to compare two things, you must use the comparative degree
e.g. Jale is small er than Jill.
But! If you want to compare more than two things and express highest quality or quantity of an object in a comparison to other objects (not one but more than one).
e.g. Jale is the small est ( comparing with Jill and Jole).
We use - the- because we know very well what object or thing is underlined among others
+
the suffixes - est or -st
Can you describe Jole
comparing Jill and Jale?
Look at example and do the same with
some other adjectives, as:
old, clean, proud, strong, clever
e.g. Jole is the clever est
Remember!
Adjectives
can be with one syllable can be with two syllables can be with three syllables
big, small, bright, cosy, busy, angry, dirty beautiful, handsome,
clean, old, tall, pretty confused, difficult.
short, strong,
sad.
Adjectives with One Syllable form a superlative with the definite article - the- + adding suffix -est/-st
e.g. smal l . It is the base form of an adjective. We need to add suffix -est ( because the final letter is a consonant -l-) to the base form = small est
The smallest
e.g. nice. It is also the base form of an adjective. We need to add suffix -st (because the final letter is a vowel -e-) to the base form = nice st
Let’s practice old, strong, fine, rare, close
Adjectives with one syllable ending in a consonant, vowel and consonant , form a superlative with the definite article -the- + base form of an adjective where the last consonant is doubled + suffix -est

Let’s practice with adjectives fat, hot, thin, sad,
Adjectives with two syllables
Adjectives with two syllables ending in -y-
We change the “y” to “i” and add -est. And don’t forget to put the definite article -the-
e.g. busy - the busi est
Let’s practice with sunny, silly, cosy, pretty, dirty
Adjectives with two syllables ending in “er”, “le” or “ow”

Let’s practice with narrow

Ok. And now please remember some unusual adjectives with specific superlatives.
They are:
