– Hello, boys and girls! My name is Bobby.

– And my name is Tobby. This is our friend Mobby.

– Welcome to our lesson.

– Today we have a guest.

– It’s our friend Alex.

– Hi, everyone!

– Alex, you look so scared! What’s wrong?

– Guys, I don’t know how to say that!

– Oh, come on! Tell us everything!

– All right!

Yesterday my classmate called me on the phone and offered to go for a walk. I agreed. We decided to meet each other on the beach at 6 o’clock in the evening.

I didn’t want to be late, so I went to the beach earlier. I was waiting for my classmate, when suddenly two red crabs appeared in front of me. They looked really angry. I wanted to run away, but then I decided not to show my fear. After a little while the crabs started talking to me.

– Hello, little boy!

– Hello.

– What are you doing here all alone?

– I’m waiting for my classmate. When he comes, we will go for a walk!

– No, I don’t think so.

– Erm… I’m sorry, but I don’t understand you!

– Oh, really? Listen to what my friend will say to you and you’ll understand everything!

– We will give you three tasks. And you will have to do them by 8 o’clock in the evening.

– No, I’m not going to do your tasks!

– If you don’t do them, you will regret about it!

– We are magical crabs!

– And we can turn you into a frog or a mouse!

– If you don’t believe us, we can prove it.

– Oh, no, please! I believe you!

– Great! In this case, take your tasks.

– And remember that you have only 2 hours to complete them.

– But what if I don’t do these tasks on time?

– Oh, we will just turn you into an ugly animal!

After that the crabs disappeared.

– Guys, what should I do now? I’m so scared!

– Alex, first of all, calm down!

– Yes, I have. They are connected to the possessive case. And I know nothing about it.

– Oh, but we know everything about it!

·      talk about the possessive case;

And

·      put the knowledge into practice.

Before we do the crabs’ tasks, let’s talk about the possessive case.

It’s translated as “притяжательный падеж”.

The possessive case is used to express that something belongs to someone or to show a relationship between two or more people.

Look at the examples:

This is Tom’s bicycle.

This is Kate and Kyle’s house.

Or

Jillian’s room is so beautiful!

Now let’s answer the question:

How do we form the possessive case?

The possessive case is formed by adding the apostrophe (‘) and the letter “s” to the noun.

Look at the examples:

Jennifer’s rocking horse

Megan’s train

The girl’s doll

Daniel’s aeroplane

Julia’s tea set

Or

David’s kite

You also need to know that the possessive case answers the question “Whose?”.

The translation is “Чей?”.

Look at the examples:

Whose sweater is this?

This is Nick’s sweater!

Or

Whose skirt is this?

This is Marian’s skirt!

And the first task is to rewrite the sentences using the possessive case of nouns.
