Конспект урока "Words we use when we want to make up a quarrel"

—   Hello, boys and girls! My name is Martin. This is James.

—   And this is our Chinese friend Lee.

—   We are glad to welcome you on our lesson!

—   You know, we became famous due to our lessons!

—   That’s why we were invited to one prestigious school two days ago.

—   The principle of this school asked us to come and show one of our lessons to the pupils.

—   We were so happy about that.

—   When we entered the schoolyard, we saw two little boys.

—   They were talking about something. Their conversation was so emotional.

—   Then these two boys came to us and we started talking.

—   Listen to our conversation.

—   Excuse me, sirs, could you help us, please?

—   Sure, what is it?

—   Could you tell us about the words that we can use when we want to make up a quarrel?

—   Why do you need to know that?

—   Oh, Kyle and I always laugh at everyone. Yesterday one girl decided to leave the school because of us.

—   We want to talk to her and say the right words, because it’s our fault that she made such decision.

—   But we don’t even know what to say to her. Please, help us!

—   Well… Your behavior is so awful, but we’re glad that you want to change.

—   All right, let’s go to your classroom. It’s lunch time. No one should be there.

—   Great!

—   Let’s go!

I think you understand that today in the lesson we will:

·        talk about words that we use when we want to make up a quarrel;

And

·        put the knowledge into a practice.

We have so many problems in our life every day. That’s why sometimes we become very angry and cannot control our temper. If we talk to people at these moments, we can shout at them and say bad words to them. In other words, we start a quarrel. This happens, because we’re not happy with some aspects of our lives. It’s better not to do all these things, but if a quarrel has already started, we need to stop it.

—   Let’s look closely at the words which we can use to make up a quarrel.

1. I’m sorry, it’s all my fault.

The translation is “Прости, это только моя вина”.

For instance:

—   Oh my God, why is it so cold in here?

—   I’m sorry, it’s all my fault. I forgot to close the window yesterday.

2. I’m sorry, I’m to blame for it.

The translation is “Прости, в этом виноват я”.

For instance:

—   Boys, who broke your mum’s favourite vase?

—   I’m sorry, dad. I’m to blame for it, but I didn’t do that on purpose.

3. I must apologize.

The translation is “Приношу тебе извинения”.

For instance:

—   Robert, I was cooking the dinner all the evening yesterday, but you didn’t come!

—   Oh, Jake, I must apologize! My wife got into serious troubles.

4. I owe you an apology.

The translation is “Я должен извиниться”.

For instance:

—   Mr. Bishop, I owe you an apology. I didn’t want to yell at you.

—   OK, Cody! I accept your apologies.

5. Sorry, I meant no offence.

The translation is “Прости, я не хотел тебя обидеть”.

For instance:

—   Kyle, how dare you say such awful words to me?

—   Sorry, I meant no offence.

6. Do forgive me.

The translation is “Прости меня”.

For instance:

—   Ryan, how could you forget about my birthday?

—   Oh, Max. Do forgive me. I was so busy last week.

7. I promise it will never happen again.

The translation is “Обещаю, это больше не повторится”.

For instance:

—   Mike, you promised to help your granny but didn’t keep your word.

—   Sorry, dad. I promise it will never happen again. I’ll always keep my words.

8. Let’s kiss and make up.

The translation is “Давай мириться”.

For instance:

—   Owen, I hate you, you ruined all my life!

—   Oh, Stephanie, don't overreact! Let’s kiss and make up.

9. Let bygones be bygones.

The translation is “Кто старое помянет…”.

For instance:

—   Mason, I’m really sorry that I told the boss about your lateness last week.

I shouldn’t have done it!

—   Everything is fine, Noah. Let bygones be bygones.

—   Now you know what phrases we can use to make up a quarrel.

—   But do you know what a person can tell you in reply?

—   No, we don’t.

—   All right, we’ll tell you.

If the person decided to forgive you after your apologies, he or she can say the following words to you:

1. It’s all right.

The translation is “Всё в порядке”.

2. Oh, forget it.

The translation is “Забудь об этом”.

3. No offence taken.

The translation is “Я не обижаюсь”.

4. It happens.

The translation is “С кем не бывает”.

5. No problem.

The translation is “Без проблем”.

6. Thanks, I really appreciate that you said that.

The translation is “Спасибо, я по-настоящему ценю то, что ты это сказал”.

7. I forgive you.

The translation is “Я тебя прощаю”.

8. No harm done.

The translation is “Никто не пострадал”.

9. It’s OK, don’t worry about it.

The translation is “Всё хорошо, не волнуйся из-за этого”.

10. Please let it not happen again.

The translation is “Пожалуйста, не допусти, чтобы это случилось снова”.

11. Just don’t do it again, OK?

The translation is “Просто не делай так больше, хорошо?”.

—   Now, boys, let’s put the knowledge into a practiсe.

—   Sure, with a great pleasure!

Put each conversation in the correct order.

One.

Listen and check yourselves.

—   Hi, Patrick. Do you want to explain your behavior yesterday?

—   Hi, Blake. Yes, I do. I think I owe you an apology. I just needed to get money so quickly, that’s why I took yours without permission.

—   Patrick, you could just ask me for it. It’s not a problem for me to lend you money.

—   Oh, Blake, I’m really sorry about that. I’m so stupid.

—   All right, Patrick. I forgive you. Just don’t do it again, OK?

—   Yes, of course! Thank you.

Two.

Let’s check.

—   Oh, Daddy, I’m really sorry, it’s all my fault. I didn’t notice and stepped on them by accident. Please, forgive me.

—   Cole, what are you talking about?

—   I’m talking about your glasses. They are broken. You won’t be able to watch TV without them.

—   Oh, Cole, it’s OK, don’t worry about it. I have another pair of glasses.

Three.

Let’s check.

—   Ian, yesterday I told you that you aren’t smart enough for this job. I’m sorry. I meant no offence.

—   Oh, Dominic, everything is fine. No offence taken. Actually, I think you were right!

—   No, Ian! I wasn’t right. I was just a little bit jealous, that’s why I said such unpleasant things to you.

—   It’s all right, Dominic. Forget about it.

—   Thank you, sirs. We understood everything.

—   You helped us a lot.

—   You’re welcome, boys.

—   Kyle, look! It’s Miranda.

—   We’re sorry, but we need to run. It’s the girl we were talking about.

—   Okay, good luck!

—   Thank you. Bye.

—   The boys came to the girl and started talking to her.

—   We heard their conversation, because it was so loud.

—   You know, it was the sweetest moment we’ve ever seen.

—   Listen to their talk.

—   Miranda, wait!

—   What do you want?

—   We wanted to talk to you.

—   There is nothing to talk about.

—   Yes, there is. Miranda, we owe you an apology. Please, forgive us!

—   Don’t leave the school. We promise it will never happen again.

—   All right! Thanks, boys, I really appreciate that you said that. I forgive you.

—   Oh, thank you, Miranda!

—   Now let’s look through this conversation once again.

—   What words did the boys use to make up a quarrel with Miranda?

—   Let’s check.

—   We were happy to hear that the girl forgave the boys.

—   After that we showed one of our lessons to the pupils. They really liked it.

—   Then we went home in a very good mood!

Remember! It’s very important to live in peace. Quarrels bring us nothing except anxiety, bad emotions, tears and destructions.

To avoid quarrels you should follow these rules:

·        Never lie to anyone, especially to your friends and relatives.

·        Talk about your feelings before you get angry.

·        Try not to raise your voice.

·        Never talk behind someone’s back.

·        Always try to be polite to other people.

·        Never insult or offend anybody.

·        Try to keep your emotions in check.

·        Keep a positive attitude to everything.

—   That’s all, boys and girls.

—   We hope you liked our lesson.

—   See you soon.
