Arkady Petrovich Gaidar (1904-1941)
Was a Russian/Soviet writer, whose stories were very popular among Soviet children.
The best his writings were the stories "Far country", “Blue cup”, "School" and "Timur and His Team“. He travelled around the country, met with various people. He did not know how to write, to close the office for convenient table. He composed as he walked, pondered his books in the road, repeated by heart the whole page, and then recorded them in simple notebooks. When the Second World War began, he was again in the ranks of the army, sent to the front war correspondent. He went to the front from Klin where he lived and worked. He died in 1941 in Ukraine near the village Lyaplyavo.
Mikhail Mikhailovich Prishvin (1873-1954)
Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Blok (1880-1921)
Was a Russian writer. He was born in 1873. In 1893-1897 he studied at a polytechnic school in Riga. In 1902 Prishvin graduated from the University of Leipzig as an agronomics. He worked as an agronomist in Klin and founded the green farm. Later it was the state farm “Pobeda”.
During World War I, he worked as a military journalist. After the war, Prishvin was employed as a publicist and then a rural teacher. His works are full of poetics, exceptional keenness of observation, and descriptions of nature. Many of his works were translated into different languages and became part of the gold fund of the Soviet children's literature. Mikhail Prishvin was awarded two orders.
Was a Russian poet, a leading figure in the Russian symbolist movement. His strongly rhythmic poetry is characterized by metaphysical imagery, dramatic use of legend, and responsiveness to history and to social life. He spent his summer months in Shakhmatovo, Klin district.

Tchaikovsky Peter Ilyich

Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893)
Was born in a small town in Votkinsk. He planned to be a lawyer. When he was old enough, he began to study law. But at 21 he decided that music was much more interesting and entered the conservatory at St. Petersburg. After he graduated five years later, he was made a professor in Moscow Conservatory. He wrote a lot of musical compositions. They are "The Nutcracker Suite", "Swan Lake" and "Sleeping Beauty", the "Romeo and Juliet", the "Eugenii Onegin", "Mazzeppa" "Iolanta" and "The Queen of Spades“.
He spent his last years in Klin. Tchaikovsky was only 53 when he died, but he lived long enough to know that his music was being played far and wide over the world.

Mark Isaakovich Prudkin (1898-1994)
Was born in 1898 in Klin. He was a famous Soviet /Russian actor. He has a special affinity for sharply defined character roles and for satirical and comedy roles. His roles had included Shervinskii in “The Turbins’ Days” , Vronskii and Karenin in “Anna Karenina”.
He is the best Known for the role of Fedor Karamazov in the play and film “The Brothers Karamazovs”. He had been awarded the Order of Lenin and several other orders and medals.
Yevgeny Pavlovich Leonov (1926-1994)
Was born in 1926. He spent his childhood in Davidkovo, Klin district. He was a famous Soviet/ Russian actor who played main parts in several of the most Soviet films, such as “Gentlemen of Fortune”, “Mimino”, “The Striped Trip”. He was called one of the best-loved Russian actor. He also provided the voice for many Soviet cartoon characters, including Winnie-the-Pooh. He was awarded the honorary title of People’s actor .

Vera Ignatyevna Mukhina (1889-1953)
Was a prominent Soviet sculptor . In 1919 she made a painting of monument “Revolution” for Klin. But this monument was not built. She became a leading figure of Socialist realism , both in style and ideology in 1926–1927, and came to international attention with the 1937 Worker and Kolkhoz Woman . She worked at this sculpture in Klin . Her studio's work on official monuments and architectural sculpture on state commissions continued through her death. She also experimented with glass, producing glass figural busts. she was named People's Artist of the USSR in 1943.
Apollinaris Mikhailovich Vasnetsov (1856-1933)
Was born in 1856. He worked for magazines and books, has evolved and studied in Paris, travelled in Italy and Germany. Among his most successful paintings are: "A gray day", “Taiga in the Urals ", "Morning", "Kama", and “ Lake “.
He spent his summer months in Demianovo, Klin district. He painted a lot of beautiful pictures there. They are "Twilight", "In the shade of Linden trees", "In the church yard" and "Autumn in the Park".
Landscapes of Vasnetsov differ charming harmony and freshness.
Yuri Petrovich Artyukhin (1930-1998)
Was born in Klin . He was a Soviet Russian cosmonaut and engineer who made a single flight into space on spaceship “Soyuz 14” in 1974, where his area of expertise was presumably put to good use. He left the space programme in 1982 and held various positions in space-related fields. Most notably, he was involved in the development of the Soviet space shuttle “Buran” and in cosmonaut training. He died after a long battle with cancer.
He was awarded different awards. They are Hero of the Soviet Union, Pilot-Cosmonaut of the USSR, the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Star, the Medal "For Distinction in Guarding the State Border of the USSR".
Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev (1834-1907)
Timiryazev Clement Arkadievich (1843-1920)
Was Russian scientist, brilliant chemist, physicist, a researcher in the field of Metrology, hydrodynamics, Geology, the economist, teacher, social worker and original thinker.
Mendeleev created the periodic law and the periodic table. Using his periodic table, Mendeleev predicted the existence and properties of new chemical elements. When these elements were discovered, his place in the history of science was assured.
In 1887 Mendeleev made the first balloon flight in Klin.
was a Russian botanist and physiologist and a major proponent of the Evolution Theory of Charles Darwin in Russia. He founded a faculty of vegetable physiology and a laboratory at the Petrovskaya Academy.
He spent his summer months in Demianovo, Klin, where he worked in greenhouses. He became a pioneer the use of greenhouses for agricultural research in Russia, which he initiated in early 1870s.

Was born in Shostka in 1982. He is the talented skater, the European champion, the Olympic champion and the master of sport of Russia. He is fond of sport from childhood. His parents are sportsmen and coaches. He lives in Klin . He has a lot of sports awards.

Edunov Peter Petrovich (1919-1943)
The Sergeant of Red Army, the participant of the great Patriotic War, the Hero of the Soviet Union (1943).
Was born in Zolino, Klin district. He studied at Novoschapovo school. In 1939 he began to serve in the Red Army. In 1941 he was in the front of the great Patriotic War. He participated in the battles for Stalingrad, Kursk, Belgorod, Poltava. He died in Belarus saving his comrades.
Novoschapovo school was named after him.
Kalinin Vladimir Pavlovich (1924-1944)
The Sergeant, the participant of the great Patriotic War, The Hero of the Soviet Union (1944).
Was born in Selukhino, Klin district. He studied at Voronino school. In 1942 he was called up for service in the Soviet Army in the front of the great Patriotic war. He participated in the battles on the Crimean Peninsula. He saved his comrades and died in Crimea. Voronino school was named after him.
