Внеклассное мероприятие по английскому языку "Easter"

Цель:

развитие языковой компетенции, творческих способностей и интереса к предмету у учащихся.

Задачи:

Образовательный аспект:

Формирование коммуникативных умений учащихся на основе лингвострановедческих знаний, развитие умения воспринимать на слух и понимать краткие сообщения, использование интеграции предметов для повышения интереса к английскому языку, знакомство с обычаями и традициями англичан в сравнении их с родной культурой, расширение эрудиции учащихся, их лингвистического и общего кругозора.

Воспитательный аспект:

Формирование уважительного отношения к иной культуре, познавательной активности и потребности в практическом использовании языка, умения работать в команде.

Развивающий аспект:

Развитие у учащихся межкультурной компетенции, языковых, интеллектуальных способностей, ценностных ориентаций, чувств и эмоций, готовности к коммуникации.

Особенности воспитательного мероприятия: проводится в два этапа и готовится совместно с учителем технологии. Учащиеся познают традиции и обычаи празднования пасхи на Руси. Задолго до этого готовят и проводят конкурс презентаций (либо на уроке технологии можно использовать презентацию на русском языке, взятую из Интернета, которая прилагается), изучают рецепты пасхальных блюд, выращивают травку. На втором этапе дети рисуют пасхальные куличи и разрисовывают яйца, изготавливают пасхальное дерево, готовят угощение, накрывают столы, украшают кабинет c родителями, c учителями технологии и английского языка. Здесь же проводится внеклассное мероприятие – праздник, посвященный празднованию пасхи в Британии, где на сравнении двух культур учащиеся осознают их ценность.

Оборудование урока:

Компьютер, проектор, презентация в “Power Point”, рисунки для конкурса, кроссворды-заготовки, викторина, пасхальное дерево.

Ход мероприятия.

1. Приветствие, сообщение о теме и характере работы.

Teacher: Dear our pupils of the 5^th forms! Attention!

Today we are going to discuss some traditions of celebrating Easter in England, to play funny Easter games, to recite poems and so on. You have already learnt a lot about celebrating Easter. And now we’ll tell you about English traditions. I want you to be very attentive and in the end we’ll discuss the most common traditions. Let’s start!

P1: Rabbits soft and cuddly

Baby chickens, too.

Easter eggs for baskets

White, and pink, and blue.

P2: Every country has its traditions. So many countries, so many customs. Some of them are very nice and funny. One tradition is Easter. The Christians celebrate it on the first Sunday after the full moon in spring. (slide 1,2)

T: It is a religious holiday. The word Easter comes from the Anglo-Saxon goddess of the dawn. Her spring festival was celebrated in April. Easter is a Christian festival now. The Christians are glad over the fact that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. It has some symbols.

P3: Easter is a religious holiday. It has some symbols: The Cross, rabbits, eggs, chickens, ducklings. (slide 3)

 P4:Jesus Christ, the son of God, was resurrected and the cross is a very important symbol. The egg is a symbol of a new life. The rabbit is an innocent animal, it is a symbol of Easter too. It eats only grass. (slide 4,5)

P5: The legends holds that once a poor woman decorated colorful eggs for her children to find. As soon as the hidden eggs were found a large bunny was seen hoping away. This is the root of the Easter Bunny that we know and love today.

P7: Easter in England.

Easter lasts for a week. The three most important days are Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. On Thursday, the king or a queen of England gives money to poor people. The tradition is very old. On Good Friday, people eat fish instead of meat. They also eat special hot cakes with a cross on the top. They call these cakes hot cross buns. On Easter Sunday, people eat a traditional roast dinner with lamb, potatoes and vegetables. They also give each other chocolate Easter eggs.( slide 8)

P9: (slide 9). Children like Easter very much because it is a tasty holiday. All the families colour eggs and put them into green, yellow and pink baskets. Next morning children are busy with hunting eggs, jelly beans and chocolate bunnies. They play funny games such as egg rolling contest and sing Easter songs.
T : (slide 10) And today we can play funny Easter games too. They are called Easter Hunt and Easter Roll. Let’s learn how to play and just do it.
We’ll have two teams: “ Bunnies” and “Ducklings”. The first game is Eggs hunting- which team will find more hidden eggs?
The second game is the following. You are to roll the egg with the help of a spoon.
Whose egg will be the farthest to roll?

T :Ok .While our jury is making a decision , we can sing a song about Easter buns .

3.T : The next task is « Quiz». I want you to answer some of my questions. ( slide 11).

Easter is fun for children. They often decorate real eggs in pretty colours or make colourful hats, called Easter bonnets. They can also have an Easter egg hunt outside. Parents hide Easter eggs in their gardens and the children try to find as many as they can and put them in their Easter basket. People tell their children that the Easter Bunny brings the eggs! Bunnies or rabbits are symbols of spring.
Easter is a wonderful celebration. It is lots of fun for all the family.
4.T: The next task is «Easter wordsearch». Let’s solve the puzzle. Who is the best ? ( slide 12-13).You have 5 minutes to do it.. Find the words in it.

5. Summing up the results of the competition.
Well, it is time to know the results of the contest. The score is :

T: Do you like English traditions? What British tradition do you like best of all? Now you know that every country has its customs. But Easter customs are very similar to our customs. You’ve learnt a lot about British traditions today. It’s natural that different cultures have different customs and traditions. Each nationality has its own features. For example, the English are said to be very conservative, while the Russians are said to be generous and plain. But, from the point of view of religion, we all are creatures of our god, The Lord and Creator, that is why we have much in common. We should respect traditions of other countries and keep up your own ones.
