Moscow is the biggest city of Russia and its capital. The city stands on the Moskva River and was founded in 1147 by the prince Yuri Dolgoruky. Now, Moscow is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It differs from other European capitals. There are many places of interest in Moscow. The city is famous for its historical monuments, museums, art galleries and theatres. Most Moscow sights are in the centre of the city. Among them (среди них), the well-known Kremlin and Red Square.

The Kremlin was founded in the 15 th century. It stands beside the Moskva river not far from St Basil`s Cathedral and Red Square. The Kremlin is not only one building. It consists of (состоит из) 5 palaces, 4 cathedrals, Kremlin Wall with Kremlin Towers. And there is the famous Kremlin clock in the Spasskaya Tower , one of the Kremlin`s towers.

Saint Basil's Cathedral is situated in Red Square next to the Kremlin. It was founded in the 16 th century and it is not like any other building in the world! Traditionally the foundation was built of white brick and the Cathedral itself – of red brick, like Kremlin Wall. St. Basil`s Cathedral has the biggest dome (купол) in the centre and eight smaller domes around it.

The best place for art lovers in Moscow is the Tretyakov Art Gallery , which has a large collection of pictures. It was founded in 1856 by Pavel Tretyakov. Now it has more than 130.000 paintings in its collection.
