Цели урока

развитие, совершенствование у учеников навыков аудирования, говорения и чтения;

в конце урока ученики будут способны применять в своей речи новые слова и фразы по данной теме;

самостоятельно работать с новыми словами, сопоставлять и находить синонимы, понять , что такое "аутизм";

высказывать свои мнения по теме. 

Learning aims: 1.Introduction of new words with an emphasis on the theme “Autism. Mind & Brain”

Improvement of Ss ability to talk about special talents & autistic savants.

Improvement of Ss listening, reading, speaking skills

Learning objectives for this lesson: by the end of the lesson the students will be able:

To talk about special talents & autistic savants.

To use new words, to compare & find out synonyms.

Ss-duties talk about the date, the weather

T asks question: “ What does this collocation  “super brains” mean?

Ss try to explain the meaning of this collocation. Ss say their opinions.

Introduce  new words.. (brainstorm, pick your sister’s brains, brainwave, brainchild, the brains, you’ve got football on the brain)

Ss work into three groups (Group A,B,C):

Ex7a. p 9. Ss read the dialogues. Match the underlined expressions with definitions 1-6. (Group A: 1-2 sents, Group B-3-4 sents, Group C- 5-6 sents)

Ex7b. Use the expressions in ex7a to complete these sentences.(by 2 sentences)

Introduce task- work with pictures. T asks Ss to look at the pictures of autistic savants (Blind Tom, Stephen Wiltshire, Daniel Tammet) & determine who are they.

Ss try to determine who are they.. (Blind Tom-musician, Stephen Wiltshire create the most amazing drawings, Daniel Tammet has high mathematical abilities.

Reading in groups. Ss listen 7 read the texts.  Group A- read the text about Blind Tom, Group B-text about Stephen Wiltshire, Group C- text about Daniel Tammet (text from Internet)

Ss (working into groups) answer the questions about the reading. For ex: What is his special ability? Who helped him develop this ability?...

Ss say their opinions...
