to enrich pupils’ knowledge about Kazakhstan, to teach to work creatively, find information while reading the text

to develop pupils’ oral and written speech, to develop skills of speaking, reading on the theme, to work in groups cooperatively

to bring up patriots of the Motherland, to bring up the interest in English

The kind: mixed

The type: combined

Methods: explanation, question - answer, brainstorming, odd and out, word care

Visual aids: interactive board

Interaction: Kazakh, Geography

The Procedure of the lesson

I. Organization moment

a) greeting

b) checking up the attendance

c) asking the date and day

II. Warm - up activity

Teacher: Pupils at the beginning of the lesson I want ask you attention to these rules, you should follow them.

The golden rules:

Be active

Be attentive

Be emotional

Don’t interrupt each other

Don’t say “I don’t”

First think then speak

III. Checking up the home work

a) exercise VI, p 120. Translate the following sentences into your native language.

1. It was planned to extend the railway from the city of Semey to Pavlodar

2. A plain is a large flat piece of land extending in different directions

3. The Siberia plain extends to the northern part of Kazakhstan.

4. The Sahara desert is a large land in the central Africa

5. The constitution ensures the rights for the people within borders of our country

b) To learn by heart new words. Find the missed words

1. The Siberia plain extends to the northern part of Kazakhstan

2. Kara Kum is a desert in the Central Asia

3. Boys and girls like to eat pop corn

4. Millet porridge with milk is very useful for children

5. Cotton is used for making cloth, threat

IV. Explanation of the new lesson

Reading the text. Kazakhstan

Teacher: Now, pupils let’s continue our lesson. Today we have an unusual lesson. Today we have guests from Great Britain and the USA. They want to know about our country and I hope we help them. So, our today’s task is to speak, to ask and to answer the questions about Kazakhstan.

The theme of our new lesson: Step8. Speaking about Kazakhstan.

The Republic of Kazakhstan is situated in the Central Asia. The area of Kazakhstan

 is 2 753 000 square kilometres. It extends 1900km from West to east, and 1300km from North to the South. Its population is about 17 million. Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan. Kazakh is the state language, and Russian is the official language.

Kazakhstan borders China, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kirgizia.

There four rivers are the main resources of water in the country. They are Ertis, Syrdarya, Ural, Illi. The largest lakes are Balhash, Zaisan, Ala - Kol, Tengiz. .

Answer the questions:

Where is the Republic of Kazakhstan situated?

What is the size of the area of Kazakhstan?

What can you say about the population of the Republic?

What is the capital of Republic?

Where is it situated?

V. Doing exercises.

Ex V, p122. Answer the questions using the map.

How many kilometers does the area of the country extend from the West to the East and from

the North to the South?

What is there in the southwest of the country?

What river is there near the northwestern border of the country?

Look at the map of Kazakhstan and say what states Kazakhstan borders

VI. Doing tasks.

Do you remember?

In the board there are pictures of Baiterek, the national flag and other pictures. And behind the pictures tasks and questions. Pupils should answer them.

1. What is the capital of Kazakhstan?

2. Who is a head of Kazakhstan?

3.  How many people live there?

4. What are the largest lakes are there?

5.  What can you say about climate of the Kazakhstan?

Odd and out.

In each line of words is one word which doesn’t go with other. Name this odd word and explain why is it odd?

1. Kazakhstan/ China/ India/ France

2. Tokyo/ Astana/ Ankara/ Spain

3. English/ Spanish/ Kazakh/ Great Britain

4. land/ continent/ country/ square

5. wheat/ millet/ corn/ border
