Today we’ll have a new topic. That is a new grammatical rule of conditionals.

But before that, tell me about the weather we have today. ___, what’s the weather today? Good. ___, what’s the date today? OK. And now look at the blackboard, please. It is a tongue-twister.

Listen to the whole tongue-twister first. Now let’s translate it. I read one word and you repeat it in chorus. Listen attentively. The second word.. Now I read you the whole tongue-twister one more time and you repeat it all in chorus. Now read it one by one. Try to pronounce it quickly and in a correct way.

Conditionals are clauses introduced with if. There are three types of conditional clause: Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3. There is also another common type, Type 0.

true. We can use when (=whenever) instead of if.

e.g. If/When the sun shines, snow melts.

situations in the present or future.

e.g. If he doesn’t study hard, he won’t pass his exam.

They are also used to give advice.

e.g. Bob is daydreaming. If I won the lottery, I would buy an expensive car and I would go on holiday to tropical island next summer.
