Aims and objectives of the lesson:

1. To consolidate students’ knowledge on the topic: “Transport of London”. Students will be able to identify and discuss modes of transportation in London and compare the system of public transport in London and our country.

2. Students will be able to practice their listening, reading, speaking abilities and writing skill through interactive and communicative activities.

3. Students will be able to value opinions of their classmates working together in groups for successful communication.

Methods: pair work, group work

The Organization moment:

1. Greeting

2. Organizing classroom activities, asking and answering the questions

II. Checking up the home assignments:

1. Exercise 9 p. 65 Complete the sentences with suitable Gerund.

III. The main stage of the lesson:

1.  Motto: “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page”

-  How do you understand the Motto? Can you translate, please?

-  What are the advantages of travelling?

-  What for do people travel?

2.  Brainstorming. A short movie

(Teacher will show a short movie and conduct brainstorming to identify the theme of the lesson. Teacher will generate new ideas within groups)

-  What have you seen in the video?

-  Do we need to use public transport?

-  What country is it?

-  What kind of transport have you seen from the video?

-  Could you guess, what is the title of our today’s lesson?

(Teacher asks students to write today’s date and the theme on their exercise books)

3.  Pre – listening task

Vocabulary Practice

 (Teacher will present the new words of today’s lesson, students will practice their pronunciations and write the new words on their vocabularies. )

4.  Listening Stage: A video – show

(Students will listen to the text and while listening complete the sentences with the missed words).

5.  Reading the Text.

6.  Discussing. Group work

1 group – Speak about the transport of London.

2 group – Speak about the transport of Kazakhstan.

Then in class discussing the things in common.

7.  Grammar Section: Gerund (Revised)

(Teacher asks the rule of gerund, asks students to give own examples, asks the verbs which are used before the gerund).

8.  Grammar revision:

1. After finishing the University Jane moved to a new city (Adverbial modifier).

2. She thinks of changing her job. (Object)

3. Painting is one of my hobbies. (Subject)

4. This is an airport for transporting goods. (Attribute)

9. Doing writing exercises

1. Mother entered the room without noticing me.

2.  He finished reading the book.

3.  Her greatest pleasure is reading.

4.  Swimming is a good exercise.
