Limericks

There was an Old Man with a beard,

Who said, “It is just as I feared!—

Two Owls and a Hen,

four Larks and a Wren,

Have all built their nests in my beard!”

There was a Young Lady whose chin

Resembled the point of a pin;

So she had it made sharp,

and purchased a harp,

And played several tunes with her chin.

There is a Young Lady whose nose

Continually prospers and grows;

When it grew out of sight,

She exclaimed in a fright,

“ Oh! Farewell to the end of my nose!”

A fellow jumped off a high wall, And had a most terrible fall.  He went back to bed,  With a bump on his head,  That's why you don't jump off a wall.

My brother was making a picture.

He wanted to depict nature.

I was trying to help,

But the camera fell.

And my brother gave me a lecture.

There was one little bird in a little tree,

He was all alone, and he didn’t want to be. So he flew far away, over the sea, And brought back a friend to live in the tree.

There was in one town a zoo.

There lived only one kangaroo.

People asked every day:

“ Why don’t you escape?”

There was a strange lady of Spain,

And it said: “I’ve got no clue.”

Who liked to walk in the rain.

When she got totally wet,

She was really so glad.

Oh, strange lady of Spain.

There was an Old Man of Moldavia, Who had the most curious behaviour; For while he was able, He slept on a table. That funny Old Man of Moldavia.

There was a Young Lady of Dorking, Who bought a large bonnet for walking; But its colour and size, So bedazzled her eyes, That she very soon went back to Dorking.

“ It’s summer, it’s summer!”, the children all cried.

“ Let’s go to the sea. It’s time to dive.”

But when they came to the sea,

There was no place to swim,

There was one strange big family

Because the sea was totally dried.

That did everything rapidly.

When they went to the trip,

They forgot their kid.

He was glad to see again his strange family.

There was a strange rich man

Who wanted to live in a van.

But when he finally bought it,

Somebody stole it.

Oh, strange poor man without a van.
