I’m a teenager and I think that youth is a very important period in everyone’s life. This is the time when a young person discovers the world. He (she) also tries to find a place in the universe. It seems that today’s youngsters aren’t the same as the older generation used to be. They’re very special.

That’s why in my project I tried to find out in what way all teens are alike.

What do they have in common? In what way do they differ?

Hobbies And Pastimes.

You can’t imagine modern teens without computers. This is what unites them and makes them alike. Teens nowadays enjoy chatting online with friends thousands of  miles away.

In fact, teenagers in Russia may feel they have more in common with  Internet friends in Britain, than with other youngsters in their own country. Young people around the globe are beginning to hang around together on the Internet as they used to on the street.

Another great enjoyment is computer games. Many teens have been already hooked on them. The games may be silly as well as very useful ones.

They can help you to understand the economy, improve your language skills and vocabulary or at least give you better skills in using the “mouse”.

Another hobby popular with young people is, in fact, graffiti or graffiti art. It’s aerosol art of drawing on the walls. It has become especially popular with young people.

Hobbies And Pastimes

In fact, teenagers in Russia may feel they have more in common with Internet friends in Britain, than with other youngsters in their own country. Young people around the globe are beginning to hang around together on the Internet as they used to on the street.

Many youngsters can show the emotions (happiness, sadness, frustration) with the help of graffiti.

That’s why this piece of art is very close to the hearts of young people.

Sport is also a popular hobby with young people. Lots of them watch sports programs on television, support their favourite teams at stadiums and do different kinds of sport. Some sports are common, others are very unusual or extreme. They’re street ball, parachute jumping, parkour and the like.

Going in for sport gives teens a lot of advantages. It gives them physical exercise, they spend a lot of time in the open air, they meet people who enjoy the same sport.

Fashion And Groupings

Teens’ fashion often depends on the groupings to which they belong.

Fashion becomes a way for young people to express their individuality.

Punks like to dress in a shocking way. They have brightly colored hair and wear metal chains. They say no to everything and listen to aggressive music.

Goths wear the blackest black, with a lot of metal jewellery.

They have quite black hair and look as thin and pale as possible. Their favourite music is gothic rock.

Rapers enjoy wearing wide trousers and big caps.

Also simple T-shirts are popular with them. They don’t care much about their hairstyle.

Social Activity

Many of young boys and girls join political organizations and environmental groups. They get a chance to show their social activity, patriotism and love for natural world.

Most of them like to demonstrate their wish to change the world for the better. When they’re together, they feel they can do it!

So, nowadays all teens in the world seem to have much in common. They think a lot about friends and friendship. They have the same hobbies and pastimes, some of which are very special. They care a lot about fashion, and pay great attention to their own style. They also enjoy being in various cults and groupings. As well as joining different organizations, and clubs. But in spite of this, each of us is a unique personality!
