Описание разработки

Lexical topic: “Which room do you like?”

Grammar topic: “There are- there is ”

Aim: to continue working with the Unit “My flat”, to develop speaking skills, to remember using the structure there is/there are.

Objectives:

Educational:

1) to support the interest to the English lesson so that pupils work hard

2) to concentrate student’s attention on new important theme so that they be very attentive and involved in the theme

3) to carry out the quiz, so that students show their knowledge on the grammatical structure there is/there are

Developing:

1) to develop mental activity of the students so that they apply their knowledge of the vocabulary in speaking

2) to develop creative activity of the students so that they can make up short dialogues

Upbringing: To bring up the love to their room and to develop such qualities as cleanliness and accuracy

Equipment: English book for 5th grade (T.Ayapova) ; Power Point Presentation for the lesson; tasks for quiz.

Ход урока.

1. Greeting.

Good afternoon pupils!

Today we are going to continue working with the theme “My flat”. On this lesson we will compare rooms in your flats (houses) and find out why they are better or worse than other rooms. Also we will remember using the structure there is/there are so that we will make up some interrogative and negative sentences.

2. Warm–up.

But first of all, please answer my questions:

What date is it today?

Where are you from?

How are you?

Do you like your flat (house)?

How many rooms are there in your house (flat)?

What are they?

What are there in your living room?

What are there in your room?

3. Speaking.

Now open the book on p.110. Look at the Ex.1. Match the words with the pictures. Let’s check. Now you are to fill the table: which room do the words go with? Let’s check. Bekzat, please, start. Yes you are right. So thank you, very good.

Now you should work in 2 small groups. The first and the second rows are the first group, then the third and the forth rows are the second groups. The first group is to write what they do in their living rooms and the second group is to write what they do in the kitchen. Let’s listen to your ideas. Now the first group is to tell why living room is better and the second group is to tell why kitchen is better.

Training the grammar

Let’s revise the structure there is/there are. Look at the blackboard. Who wants to tell the rule of making up affirmative sentences (negative, interrogative)?

Now answer my questions.

  • Is there a table in your room?

  • Is there a chair in your kitchen?

  • Are there armchairs in your living room?

  • Are there any pictures in your room?

  • Are there any plants in your living room?

  • Dasha, ask Dima about beds in his room.

At home you are to read the text on p.114 Ex.4. After reading you are to draw a scheme of carol’s house. Next lesson you will retell this text by your schemes. You are to say what rooms there are in her house, what there are in there.
