St Patrick’s Day
[~15-20 min.]
Warm up. 3-5 min. Greet students. Play Hangman, making a word:
–HIGH lvl – S A I N T – ask them what this word means. What saint people do they know?
–MED lvl – I R E L A N D – ask them what this word means. What other countries do they know?
–LOW lvl – H O L I D A Y – ask them what this word means. What other holidays do they know?
–SILLY lvl – S N A K E – ask them to show this word. What other animals do they know?
Write the name PATRICK and ask students whether they are familiar with it or not. N.B.: No Patrick Star from Spounge Bob.
Open the presentation and follow all steps. Improvise and tell everything what you know about such a holiday, using, of course, any tips in the presentation which you could find useful and pleasant.
One slide contains the picture of a leprechaun. His name is Oisin ( əʊʃi:n). Give the special handout for students which helps them create their own leprechauns’ names.
Do not forget to watch the video – for HIGH and MID lvls.
In the end of the presentation there is a check-point, which helps stable the new information.
