1. Организационный момент.

T : Hello, boys and girls! Good afternoon, dear guests. I’m very glad to see you.

Let’s start our lesson. Today we are going to continue our work on the subject «Man The Believer» and we shall speak about different religions – and where they lead us.

1. Речевая разминка

T. People are different. But they have some common things; for example, their beliefs. And I want to ask you the first question. What is a religion?

P : I think religion is a belief in the existence of supernatural power, in God – the creator and the ruler of the Universe.

T. Here is a definition from Merriam-Webster dictionary: “Religion is a Relation of human beings to God or the gods or to whatever they consider sacred or, in some cases, merely supernatural. Religions attempt to answer basic questions intrinsic to the human condition запись на доске: “Why do we suffer? Why is there evil in the world? What happens to us when we die?”

Now, close your eyes, sign in, relax, wait a minute and tell me your associations of the word “Religion”?

T: Thank you. That was good. Another question is: Why do people all over the world profess some religion?

P: They can’t explain some things.

P: As for me, I think that one of the most important functions of any religion is to help people to explain the unknown.

T: All of you are right. Look at the blackboard. There are hundreds of different religious sects and groups in the world. Will you name the main, please?

T: Well, and your home task was to make up a summary of the world religions and this film will be rather useful, in my opinion (фильм - ролик о религиях мира, ученики рассказывают по ходу просмотра)/ who wants to begin?/////////////////

T: Well done. But what’s the main in every religion? The essence of it, if we can use this word.

Ps: They teach us kindness, respect each other, to be tolerant to each other. They teach us live in peace.

T: Do they have the same foundation or maybe the same basic ideas?

T: To prove this, we are going to watch a video which tells us about the main God’s laws. Look at the blackboard. These laws are called Commandments.

Who is Moses?

P.: He’s a Jewish prophet.

T: Commandments were given to Moses on the Mount Sinai. God inscribed them on two stone tablets. Listen and try to remember as much as you can.

T: Well, what’s about the God’s laws? Can you name some of them?

T: Are they good or bad qualities?

I think, some of you know the Muslim verses from the Quran. Can you name some?

Are they common to the Commandments?

Can you remember rules in other religions which deal with good or bad deeds?

T: “Don’t kill…Love your neighbor”..... Honor your mother and father… The paradise is under your mother’s feet….. Don’t lie… aren’t they the same in all religions?

T: Let’s remember the film I asked you to see. «My name is Khan». It is a very touching film, isn’t it?

What can we do to help people in need?

Do you feel a helping hand in our republic, Dagestan, for example?

P: Dagestan – is an example of peaceful coexistence of more than 30 nationalities. Dagestan is known as a region with complex ethnic structure. There were no ethnic conflicts in Dagestan history. Now and then Dagestan is a united community of nations, supporting each other in joy and sorrow, in peace and war.

P: And I’ve remembered one interesting fact. The territory of the modern Dagestan was divided into small khans. Utsmii or shamkhal was a head of the region. Kaitag utsmii was a peaceful and religious man. On Fridays he went to the mosque as the Muslims do, on Saturday he could be seen in synagogue and on Sunday he was on the church service in Derbent. When he was asked about the reasons of his strange behavior, utsmii answered: “There live not only Muslims, but also judies and Christians in my land. And being the head of the region I must respect and keep interests of the representatives of all confessions, so that nobody of them will feel opposed.” This man is an example of a wise political leader.

T: We are different, aren’t we? in character, maybe, in religion, in colour of our skin. But what is the main in a human being, in every man?

We are different people. But try to have a helping hand, because there are no other difference than being bad or good.

7.Итоги урока.

T: Your home task for the next lesson is to write a composition on the topic “What can I do to make this world better”.
