We started in Trafalgar Square. In the center of the square there is a column. At the top of the column there’s a statue of Admiral Nelson, who had to fight the French at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.![](https://fsd.videouroki.net/html/2014/06/10/98683081/98683081_2.jpeg)

The Houses of Parliament are very near Buckingham Palace, so we went there next. It’s the London home of the Queen. We couldn’t go in, because the palace wasn’t open to the public that day.![](https://fsd.videouroki.net/html/2014/06/10/98683081/98683081_4.jpeg)
After Buckingham Palace we went to Madame Tussaud’s. It’s a famous museum of wax figures. They have wax figures of all the famous people in the world. I took a lot of pictures there.

Next day we went to the Tower of London, which in the past was – a fortress, a castle, a prison and a zoo. Now it’s the oldest museum in London.
After the Tower of London we went to Greenwich. Three hundred years ago it was a village and now it’s part of London. The guide told us about Greenwich Palace. Queen Elizabeth II lived there. Then we went to the Greenwich Observatory. It is the centre of time and space, because the prime meridian of the Earth, which devides east from west, passes through there. If you stand over the line, you can have one foot in each hemisphere.![](https://fsd.videouroki.net/html/2014/06/10/98683081/98683081_8.jpeg)
