Recognise specific information in short, simple texts on a limited range of general topics when reading with few errors.


Some learners will be able to:

Identify a sequence of supported classroom instructions with 70% accuracy;

Analyze specific information in short, simple texts on a limited range of general topics when reading without any errors.

Jigsaw” Strategy. Guessing the theme of the lesson

Division into 3 groups: New Year, the Earth Day, Mardi Gras. Every student is given one part of the puzzle. Students make the pictures, so they divide into groups. Students glue the parts of the puzzle.

Make the words from the letters - HOLIDAY/ACTIVITIES/FESTIVALS

Students guess the theme of the lesson “Festivals” according to the jigsaw parts.

Activity 1.Reading. Active strategy “Mind map

Students open their students books (Tiger Time) page 74, 75,76.

Descriptor: A learner

• reads the text;

• writes sentences/draws pictures;

• makes a poster.

Differentiation by grouping

Group -assessment “Fingers -up”

Students use 1,2,3,4 or 5 fingers held up with 1 meaning “I need a lot of help” and 5 meaning “I really get this”

Activity 2. Speaking in group. Active strategy supported “Throwing a cube”

Students throw a cube and respond to given questions. There are different questions on the cube.

1) When is the Earth Day celebrated?

2) What do people do on the Earth Day?

3) What is the main tradition on the 31st December in Scotland?

4) What must a dark-haired visitor bring on New Year's Eve?

5) What is another name of Carnival in the USA?

6) What is the most famous city for Mardi Gras in the USA?
