WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT HOLLYWOOD?

LOS ANGELES

The official history of the company began in 1912. But only in 1935 it was called Paramount Pictures. By that time the label with the mountain under the stars in the form of horseshoes was known all over the world. The author was William Hotkinson. In 2002 the label changed, because the company had bought another company.

Formed in 1935. The company made high-quality films and it is still a major company. Recent successes include the Star-Wars trilogy (1977-1983 ).

One of the most powerful Hollywood studios of the 1930s-1950s. It produced such prestige films as David Copperfield (1935) and The Wizzard of Oz (1939). Among its stars were Greta Garbo , James Stewart and Elizabeth Taylor .

Founded in 1923 by Harry, Albert , Sam and Jack Warner . It became one of the major Hollywood studios after releasing the first talking film The Jazz Singer (1927).

First the lady with the fire in her hand appeared in this studio in 1924. For 80 years many ladies insisted to be the proto-type of it. At the beginning it was black-and-white. Since 1982 when Coca Cola Company gave money to the studio, the lady is looking like a bottle with this drink.

Founded in 1945. In the 1970s and 1980s Universal became one of the industry’s leaders with box-office hits from the producer and director Steven Spielberg such as ET (1982) and Back to the Future (1985).

WALT DISNEY (1901-1966)

Walt Disney was an American artist and film producer, who was famous for his animated cartoons. He developed new techniques in producing cartoons.

His most famous characters are Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Pluto .

Walt Disney Studio

• When Walt Disney visited Germany castle in the early 1950’s he was fascinated by it. He had bought that castle. He wanted to pull it down and remove to America. But Germans were against. Disney liked that castle very much; it produced the great impression on him. He made up his mind to use the castle as a house for the Sleeping Beauty . Since that time this castle became Disney Company’s label.
