Цель:

углубление и расширение знаний учащихся о стране изучаемого языка.

Задачи:

Учебные -       

1) совершенствование навыков аудирования и устной речи;

2) контроль уровня сформированности навыков монологической формы общения (защита проектов по теме «Давайте откроем Америку!»).

Развивающие –

1) развитие мышления, внимания, памяти, языковой догадки;

2) развитие самостоятельности и креативности;

3) развитие умений взаимодействия в паре, группе;

4) расширение кругозора (развитие лингвострановедческой компетенции)                            

Воспитывающие-

1) воспитывать уважение к собеседнику, умение выслушать;

2) научить ребят сотрудничеству и работе в группе.

Ход урока.

I. Организационный момент. Приветствие.

- Good morning, girls and boys! Glad to see you. Sit down, please.

II. Вступительное слово учителя: сообщение темы урока и плана работы.

Учитель показывает на карту США и просит учеников назвать страну, тем самым, знакомя их с темой урока. Затем обращает внимание на план предстоящей работы на уроке.

- Look at the board. You can see a map here. What country is it?

- The United States of America.

- The theme of our lesson is “Let’s discover America”.

The plan of our work is also on the board. Today we are going to speak about different features of this country. First we’ll play a game, then I’ll check the homework (speaking on your projects) and you will learn some more information about the USA. During the lesson I’d like you to watch two films about this country. Any questions? No? All right, class, let’s get down to work.

III. Игра –тест «Найди правильный ответ».

Цель игры – выяснить знания учащихся уже о географическом положении США.

IV. Контроль навыка устной речи (монологические высказывания учащихся по проектам) – проверка домашнего задания; совершенствование навыков аудирования, рефлексия (обратная связь) через задания по прослушанным выступлениям.Учитель напоминает учащимся, что к уроку они сделали проекты (презентации)

Some weeks ago I asked you to find some information about the USA and to make individual or group projects. All of you have done this task and now we can see your projects. (Демонстрация выполненных проектов, примерное изложение материала учащимися).

The USA occupies the central part of North America. It stretches from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean.

The symbols of the USA.

The flag of the USA is often called “ The Stars and Stripes”. There are 50 stars on it: one for each state.The flag has 13 stripes. There are 7 red stripes and 6 white stripes: one stripe for each of the first 13 colonies of the USA

The eagle became the official national symbol of the country in 1782. It has an olive branch (a symbol of peace) and arrows (symbols of strength). You can see the eagle on the back of the dollar bill.

One of the most famous symbols of the USA is the Statue of Liberty. France gave the statue to America in 1884 as a symbol of friendship. The Statue is in New York on Liberty Island.

 “Uncle Sam” is a cartoon symbol of the American Government. He has appeared in magazines and newspapers for last 150 years. In 1812 Samuel Wilson sold meat to US Army. Everybody called him Uncle Sam. The first letters of his name US were the same as the first letters of the United States

The United States has two main political parties: the Democrats (the Donkey) and the Republicans (the Elephant).

 There are other political parties too, but they play little if any role.

To become a US President you must…

be 35 or older;

be a US citizen born in the USA;

have lived in the USA at least 14 years.

You can only serve two terms.

The USA is made up of 50 states and the District of Columbia, a special federal area where the capital of the country, Washington is situated..

The population of the country is more than 250 million people.

Americans are made up from nearly all races and nations. That’s why the USA is called “the melting pot”. The largest cities are: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Detroit, San- Francisco, Washington and others.
