• Do you speak English?" - With this phrase begins the conversation between two people that speak different languages and want to find a common language.  It's very good when you hear: "Yes, I do", and start talking.

Why do we learn English?

• Knowledge of foreign languages helps us to develop friendship and understand people. It's the language of computers, science, business, sport and politics.
• There are more than 750 million speakers of English in the world .  

• Learning a foreign language is a long and slow process that takes a lot of time and patience

• Speaking a foreign language you can read papers, magazines and original books by great writers, listen to the music, watch satellite TV Programs.

The aim of the study

• is to examine the role of English in educational and professional activity of students.

The tasks of my research work:

• 1) to identify the main difficulties that students face when learn the English language; 2) to determine the level of motivation of learning English in educational and professional activity of students.

The subject of research :

• English in scientific and professional activities of students.

The object of research :

• the role of English in educational and professional activity of students of Polytechnic College.

Hypothesis:

• If given the opportunity to learn a foreign language not only 1 time a week , and to provide additional classes in the form of electives, elective courses, remote works, etc., you can achieve better results in the knowledge of a foreign language.

Methods of study:

• analysis of literature, testing, questionnaire, interviewing.

  My future profession

•   My future profession will be a cook, confectioner. I can say with confidence that in my profession the knowledge of English will be useful. In a nice, upscale restaurant come a lot of tourists. If the dish they liked some seek to express their gratitude to the solvent. Therefore, in order not to get into an awkward situation with dignity and to respond to the appreciation must be proficient in English. Not unimportant role played by the exchange of experience with foreign colleagues. In my team may be foreign chefs, a conversation with whom I can support in English

• The cook, the confectioner is the specialist, who may be skillfully preparing sweet dainties, desserts, pies, cakes, etc. The confectioner can prepare the recipe without experimenting, inventing new dishes, original combinations of tastes and smells.

• The good cook is sometimes called magician, because he can from the simplest ingredients to cook a real masterpiece that will bring joy and pleasure to people.

• The result is the incredible popularity of the various pizzerias, fast food outlets and restaurants serving national dishes. In any of these locations the cooks manage without English. They need any languages to know foreign cuisine.

• So, cook's profession is creative and in demand.

• This is a great opportunity to realize their creative potential and create something original.

  Practical studies in the form of a questionnaire among students group «Cook, confectioner»

• 1. Is it necessary to study English in your future profession? 2. How do you evaluate your level of knowledge in a foreign language on a 5 – point system? 3. Do you like foreign music? 4. How do you feel about the appearance of foreign words in Russian language ? 5. How many problems are there in English? 6. Is it necessary to solve these problems?

The results of the study

• 1)10% believe that the foreign language will need in their future profession " Cook, confectioner"; 2) 20% estimate their knowledge in a foreign language are " good " and " satisfactorily "; 3) 25% answered that they like foreign music; 4) 20% positively to the appearance of foreign words in the Russian language were using by them in their speech; 5) 20% of the students believe that there are many problems learning a foreign language, such as grammar,reading,pronunciation,questions and many others. 6) 5% believe that there is no such a serious interest in foreign language;

In conclusion

• I would like to say again that every student has their own vision on the role of educational and professional activities. So you need to explain to students the importance of English language.
• Therefore, it is necessary to learn English, however it is always prestigious.
• Knowledge of the English language says about your education, emphasizes that you are a modern, sociable, interested in self-improvement.
