Teacher greets students, explains lesson objectives and shows video about one kind of Kazakh sport – hunting.

Students briefly put down notes about lesson objectives and watch the video about ancient Kazakh sport – hunting.

To elicit lesson theme teacher first asks questions below:

- What could you notice in the video? What first did catch your attention?

- Do you know any Kazakh traditional games and sport/

Which of them is your favorite?

- Which type of Kazakh sport have you already tried?

Then teacher gives the text about hunting with eagles and without using a dictionary students define True/False facts, for reading comprehension.







(W1, W2, W6)

Then students have to write an article about (real or imaginary):

- Kazakh athletes at the Olympics;

- Sport in Kazakhstan.

Teacher instructs them to use tablets for exploring more about athletes.




After watching the video, students answer teacher’s questions:

- What could you notice in the video? What first did catch your attention?

- Do you know any Kazakh traditional games and sport/

Which of them is your favorite?

- Which type of Kazakh sport have you already tried?

For the next task, students are given papers with the text about hunting with eagles and without a dictionary students are define True/False facts.

Differentiation by support for less able learners is done by giving dictionaries and list of unknown words and phrases from the given text.

Afterwards students write their own article for a newspaper with given themes (real or imaginary):

- creating two column article;

- using an appropriate eye-catching title.

Students are given tablets to search in order to get inspired of newspaper style.

This lesson focused on sport in Kazakhstan. Learners talked about Kazakh games and role of sport in their country. They were given task for reading comprehension and test to check whether they understood the text. And they had to write an article about sport in Kazakhstan. They made their articles in a creative way: writing and decorating at the same time. Though they could use more linkers and connectors in their writing. All learners achieved lesson objectives.

Differentiation for less able learners by providing them with unknown words and phrases from text worked well.
