Конспект урока "My things. The verb «have got». The plural form of nouns"

— Hello, boys and girls! My name is Kyle.

— Hello, everyone! My name is Sophia.

— Hello, friends! I’m Melanie.

— Hello! I’m Jackson.

— Welcome to our lesson!

— We are happy to see you!

Today in the lesson we will:

● learn new words;

● revise the verb “have got”;

● talk about the plural form of nouns;

And

● put the knowledge into practice.

Let’s start our lesson!

First, we will revise the verb “have got”.

This verb is translated as:

Иметь, владеть, обладать

Now let’s answer the question:

How do we form sentences with the verb “have got”?

To form positive sentences, we put the subject in the first place. For example:

I

He

She

It

You

We

They

Then we need to put the verb “have” or “has”. After that we put the word “got”.

For example:

Julia and Mike have got a tortoise.

Or

Jackson has got a brown dog.

To form negative sentences, we put the subject in the first place.

For example:

I

He

She

It

You

We

They

Then we need to put the verb “have” or “has” with the particle “not”. The short forms are “haven’t” or “hasn’t”. After that we put the word “got”.

For example:

Julia and Mike haven’t got a tortoise.

Or

Jackson hasn’t got a brown dog.

And to form questions, we put the verb “have” or “has” in the first place. Then we put the subject.

For example:

I

He

She

It

You

We

They

After that we need to use the word “got”.

For example:

Have Julia and Mike got a tortoise?

Or

Has Jackson got a brown dog?

— Boys and girls, we’ve revised the verb “have got”.

— Now look at the picture, please!

This is Lily. And this is Owen.

The children are at Lily’s place now, because the girl wants to show Owen the things in her house.

Now we will listen to their conversation, but before we do that, let’s talk about the plural form of nouns.

And first, you need to know that...

A plural noun refers to more than one person, place or thing.

To form most plural nouns, we have to add the ending -s to the singular nouns.

For example:

Rabbit

Rabbits

Or

Frog

Frogs

But pay attention, please!

If the singular noun ends in -s, -ss, -sh, -ch, -x or -z, we need to add the ending -es to it to make it plural.

For example:

Box

Boxes

Or

Bus

Buses

If the singular noun ends in a vowel and the letter “y”, we need to add the ending -s to this noun.

For example:

Toy

Toys

Or

Boy

Boys

If the singular noun ends in a consonant and the letter “y”, we need to change “y” to the letter “i” and add the ending -es to the noun.

For example:

Baby

Babies

Or

Berry

Berries

If the singular noun ends in “f” or “fe”, we need to change these letters to the letter “v” and add the ending -es to the noun.

For example:

Knife

Knives

Or

Wolf

Wolves

You also need to know that there are some words in English, which are called the irregular plural nouns.

We need to learn them by heart!

And they are:

Man

Мужчина

Men

Мужчины

Woman

Женщина

Women

Женщины

Child

Ребёнок

Children

Дети

Tooth

Зуб

Teeth

Зубы

Foot

Ступня
