– Well done, boys! Now listen to the story of the Bun, please!

– Oh, we can’t wait to hear it.

– Wonderful! In this case, let’s start!

Once upon a time there lived an old man and an old woman. They lived in a village and were very poor. One day the old man and the old woman had nothing to eat. They didn’t even have bread at home. So, the man came to the woman and started talking to her.

“Old woman, bake me a bun, please!”

“What can I make it from? I have no flour.”

“Old woman, scrape the cupboard, sweep the flour bin, and you will find enough flour.”

“Oh, it’s a good idea!”

The old woman picked up a duster, scraped the cupboard, swept the flour bin and gathered about two handfuls of flour.

She kneaded the dough, mixed it with some sour cream and made a little round bun out of it. Then the old woman baked it in the oven and left it on the windowsill to cool.

The Bun lay there for a little while, but suddenly he sprang to life, jumped out of the window and rolled away along the road.

On an on the Bun rolled, when suddenly he met a rabbit. The rabbit saw the little round Bun and said:

“Little Bun, I’m going to eat you up!”

“Don’t eat me, little rabbit! Let me tell you a short story.”

“Okay. Let me hear it.”

“I was scraped from the cupboard,

Swept from the flour bin,

Kneaded with sour cream,

Baked in the oven,

Cooled on the windowsill.

I ran away from my grandfather,

I ran away from my grandmother,

And I’ll run away from you, little rabbit!” – said the Bun and rolled away from the rabbit.

On an on the Bun rolled along the road, when suddenly he met a wolf. The wolf saw the little round Bun and said:

“Little Bun, I will eat you up right now!”

“Oh, please, don’t eat me, hungry wolf! Let me tell you one interesting story.”

“Okay. Let me hear it.”

“I was scraped from the cupboard,

Swept from the flour bin,

Kneaded with sour cream,

Baked in the oven,

Cooled on the windowsill.

I ran away from my grandfather,

I ran away from my grandmother,

I ran away from little rabbit,

And I’ll run away from you, hungry wolf!” – said the Bun and rolled away so fast that the wolf could only stare.

On an on the Bun rolled, when suddenly he met a bear. The bear saw the little round Bun and said:

“Little Bun, you look so delicious. I’m going to eat you up!”

“Don’t eat me, big bear! Let me tell you a story.”

“Okay. Let me hear it.”

“I was scraped from the cupboard,

Swept from the flour bin,

Kneaded with sour cream,

Baked in the oven,

Cooled on the windowsill.

I ran away from my grandfather,

I ran away from my grandmother,

I ran away from little rabbit,

I ran away from hungry wolf,

And I’ll run away from you, big bear!” – said the Bun and rolled away before the bear even saw it move!

On an on the Bun rolled along the road, when suddenly he met a fox. The fox saw the little round Bun and said:

“Little Bun, I want to eat you.”

“Don’t eat me, old fox! Let me tell you a story.”

“Okay. Let me hear your story. I’m so interested.”

“I was scraped from the cupboard,

Swept from the flour bin,

Kneaded with sour cream,

Baked in the oven,

Cooled on the windowsill.

I ran away from my grandfather,

I ran away from my grandmother,

I ran away from little rabbit,

I ran away from hungry wolf,

I ran away from big bear,

And I’ll run away from you, old fox!” – said the Bun and wanted to roll away, but the fox stopped him and said:

“Little Bun, wait! As you can see, I’m very old, and I can’t hear you well. Could you come closer and tell your story again a little louder, please?”

“Sure. No problem, old fox.”

The little round Bun came closer and repeated the story. After that he wanted to roll away, but the fox stopped the Bun again and said:

“Little Bun, wait! I’m so sorry, but I still can’t hear you well. Could you sit on my nose and tell your story once again, please?”

“Okay, old fox.”

“Thank you so much. You are so kind!”

The little round Bun jumped up to the fox’s nose and started the story once again.

“I was scraped from the cupboard,

Swept from the flour bin,

Kneaded with sour cream,

Baked in the oven,

Cooled on the windowsill.”

But before the little round Bun could finish his story, the fox opened the mouth and swallowed him. After that the old fox went home.

– That’s the whole story, boys!

– Thank you so much, Kevin.

– You’re welcome, Frankie.

– Charlie, you owe me an ice cream.

– Yes, it’s true! I’m sorry, Frankie, I was wrong. Let’s go to the nearest grocery store, and I will buy you an ice cream.

– Sure. Let’s go!

– Guys, wait! Before you go, I would like to check your knowledge.

– Oh, okay.
