Урок английского языка "Кем гордится твоя страна?"

Урок помогает в формировании у учащихся лексических навыков говорения, развитии умения читать с общим охватом содержания.

Описание разработки

Цели:

социокультурный аспект - знакомство с личностями, которых уважают в нашей стране и за рубежом;

развивающий аспект – развитие способности к формулированию выводов на основе прочитанного;

воспитательный аспект – воспитание положительного отношения к выдающимся личностям и их достижениям; воспитание чувства гордости за выдающихся людей своей страны;

учебный аспект - формирование у учащихся лексических навыков говорения;

 сопутствующая задача: развитие умения читать с общим охватом содержания.

Речевой материал:

1 WHO IS THE PRIDE OF YOUR COUNTRY?

1. Each nation has its heroes.

Who are the Russian proud of? Match the names from the box with the information about famous people (reading for the main idea)

All the Russian admire that man because he was really an all - time great person. He was the man who served his country best. He was the Grand Prince (Великий князь) of Moscow since 1359 and of Vladimir since 1362. He led (возглавил) the Russian troops in the battle of Kulikovo in 1380 where he defeated (нанёс поражение) the Mongol - Tatars.

Even a doctor can be a national hero (героем). He was a doctor in the army and he was a person to look up to (смотрят с уважением). He often worked twenty - four hours a day. He was a brave man and a skilful surgeon (искусным хирургом). He saved many people after many battles.

This man was a famous Russian painter. Most of his paintings are devoted (посвящены) to different battles. He was killed on board the warship The Petropavlovsk (на борту военного корабля «Петропавловск») when it was exploded (взорван) in Port Arthur during the Russian - Japan war.

He was a Soviet marshal and an outstanding (выдающимся) military leader. During the First World War he was awarded (был награждён) the Saint George Cross (Георгиевским Крестом) for bravery. He served his country best during the Great Patriotic War.

Цели:

3 You can read about famous people in dictionaries and encyclopaedias. Some dictionaries give very short pieces of information about great people. Write under the pictures.


What can you tell your friends about them?

Peter the First (1672-1725), also Peter the Great, the Russian Tsar (царь) since 1682, the first Russian Emperor since 1721;founded (основал) Saint Petersburg and made it the capital of Russia; won the battle of Poltava and many others.

Pozharsky Dmitry (1578-1642) (Дмитрий Михайлович Пожарский) a Russian military (военный) leader, a prince (князь). In 1613 Dmitry Pozharsky and Kuzma Minin organized the Russian resistance (сопротивление) against the Polish invaders (захватчиков).

Rublev Andrei,a famous Russian icon painter (иконописец).He decorated many cathedrals (соборов) and churches (церквей), for example, the Blagoveshchensky Cathedral in the Moscow Kremlin. His icons are the real precious stones (настоящие драгоценные камни) of Russian culture.

Nakhimov Pavel Stepanovich (1802-1855) was a Russian admiral. He won the battle (выиграл битву) of Sinop in 1853.

Mikhailova Daria Lavrentievna, was known as “Daria Sevastopolskaya”, the first nurse (сестра милосердия) in the world who took part in a battle; was brave, kind and selfless.

5 What do you know about Russian orders?

1 Peter the Great also instituted another order for outstanding military distinctions (за выдающиеся военные отличия) .It was named after the famous Russian military commander Alexander Nevsky.

2 Several military awards appeared during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. As a rule (как правило) they were named after outstanding military commanders of our country: Suvorov, Kutuzov, Bogdan Khmelnitsky. Two orders named after our great admirals F.F. Ushakov and P.S. Nakhimov were awarded to officers and admirals of the Soviet Navy (Советского Военно -Морского Флота).





3 The first Russian order was instituted (был учреждён) in the end of the 17-th century. It was the Оrder of Saint Andrew. Peter the First said that this order could be given “for loyalty (верность), courage (храбрость) and various services to us and the country.”( различные заслуги перед Нами и Отечеством)

Peter himself got the Saint Andrew order only 5 years after it was instituted – for real military deeds in 1703.

4 The Saint George Order was instituted in 1769. This award (награда) was given only for exclusive (исключительную) military service. In the State Historical Museum you can see the star and ribbon (ленту) of orders of George which General Suvorov himself had worn.

5The Saint Catherine order for women appeared (появился) in Russia during Peter’s reign (правление). It was instituted in memory of (в память о) events of the Prut battle in 1711.

6 A special George Cross (Крест) made of silver was instituted on the 25-th of February, 1811 for soldiers and non-commissioned officers (для солдат и унтер-офицеров). This cross, for instance, was awarded to the famous “cavalry-woman” N.A. Durova who began her military service as an uhlan and later became the 1-st woman officer in the Russian Army.

Not only people were the defenders (защитники) of Russia. From ancient times churches and monasteries help to fight (бороться) with different enemies (врагами). They fought (сражались) for Orthodox Faith and Motherland (Православную Веру и Отечество).



The island of Valaam

-The island Valaam is the biggest on the Ladoga. There is a monastery on the island. It was founded (был основан) by Novgorgd townsfolk (новгородцами) and stood to defend Russian land borders, and many times repelled (отражал) Swedish attacks. The monks (монахи) were very peaceful (миролюбивые) people , who loved God, nature and mankind (всех людей). The monastery was destroyed (был разрушен) many times, but was always rebuilt (отстроен заново). The primary purpose (главная цель) of the monastery was to be a spiritual (духовным) center of Russian Orthodoxy(Православия)

There is a cathedral in Russia that has a long and tragic history. It is the cathedral of Christ the Saviour.
