Purpose: to tell you about ecology in my region,

to reveal problem areas

First of all I’d like to formulate some definitions.

What is ecology?

Ecology is the science that studies the preservation of the Earth, it’s plants and animals. Besides, it investigates the environment and the relationship of people’s activity and nature.

What is health?

Health is a state of a living organism, in which he generally and all his organs are able to perform its functions and the absences of diseases.

The Earth is the only planet that people can live on. But nowadays it seems to be doing everything to make our home unfit for living. Industrialization has brought us into conflict with the natural environment. Our planet is in danger: air, water and land pollution have disastrous consequences which threaten people’s life on the Earth.

Air Pollution.

Nowadays people don’t think about clearness of air, so the problem of lack of air is very acute. Cutting down trees, building factories, and other people’s actions pollute the air greatly. We poison the air and it will kill us some day. Besides, problems with the air cause many diseases.

Water Pollution .

Water occupies a large area on the Earth. But even it we managed to contaminate. Throwing trash into water, draining the sewage and draining chemical waste poisons water greatly. Water is in trouble and it becomes unusable. It needs our help.

It is widely known, such a problem exists not only in my town but throughout the region, possibly even globally. But I would like to discuss environmental problems in my region.

Forests occupy more than half of our land . And therefore forest fires are common to us. But this is the fault of people. We cut down living trees and leave deadwood. It burns quickly and fire spreads at once. According to statistics 3189 fires were registered last year in our region. 100 people were killed and 145 were injured.

The territory of my region is situated next to the water. But that doesn't mean there is no problem with it. Recently going down the hill to the seashore I have seen the terrible picture. There was a stream at the bottom of the rock. The water in it smelt very unpleasantly and this smell was extremely strong.

I tried to find the source of the stream and went along it. The source was the sewage pipe! Returning back to the shore I decided to go further along the shore. There was also a horrible smell. I was upset greatly.

Besides, in summer you have an opportunity to watch a lot of garbage carried to the seashore by waves.

For example, let us speak about water pollution in my town. A year ago there was a problem with water: dirt and streams of melting snow got into the pipes. In the end, the water was infected and 38 people were hospitalized.

Floods

As I have already said our territory is situated near water. Floods are not typical for our place. I remember the events of the last flood in Khabarovsky Krai. It happened in 2013. Long rains for 2 months caused a serious rise of water level in rivers. Water came out of riverbanks. The results were terrible. About 77 settlements and 3000 houses were flooded in our region. Water flood caused the death of 105 people and about 115 people are still not found.

In conclusion, I want to say that there are many problems in our region which should be solved as soon as possible,because nature and people need clear environment.
