Мировое кафе «Роль английского языка в современном мире» (конференция)

Цель: обучить учащихся высказываться по теме с помощью ролевой игры.

Задачи:

- поддерживать интерес учащихся к предмету, теме;

- сформировать представление о взаимосвязанности исторических и культурных аспектов;

- учить сравнивать и обобщать, делать выводы.

Подготовка: все ученики получили роли – учителя, историки, студенты, журналист и т.д., приготовили бэйджики, искали информацию по теме.

Ход конференции:

1.Организационный момент.Good morning boys, girls and our dear guests. I am very glad to meet you here. Welcome to our World Café where you can drink tea with sweets, bicuits and discuss actual topic “The role of English language in the modern world” Help yourself, please!

2.Вступительное слово учителя.

Let’s start our meeting with watching a short video “The role of English language”. Look at the screen.

Today we are going to speak about the role of the English language in the world. As you know The English language is now the first language of about 350 million people, the native language of 12 nations and official language of 33 nations. That means that one in every seven people in the world speaks English. Why English? Why is English so popular? What are the reasons for its popularity? Now we are going to have some kind of a conference. You all have roles and are going to tell your opinion. Let’s meet our guests!

3. Ролевая игра.

Журналист: Dear ladies and gentlemen! I am very glad to see you at our conference. I am very grad to meet you. I have to write an article about the English language and I’d like to know what people from different countries what they think about it.

So today we are going to speak about “Why is English so popular?” and to listen to different opinions. After your presentations you should say your opinion, using expressions from the cards on your desks.

English became the international language. The knowledge of English is important and useful. English is so widespread that it has become the standard language for all kinds of international communications. At present, 75% of the world’s mail is in English, 60% of the world’s telephone calls are made in English, 60% of the world’s radio stations broadcast in English and more than half of the world’s periodicals are printed in English. English language plays a great role not only in the world but in our lives too.

If you know English – you will be able

- to find a good job

- to earn a lot of money

- to become a politician

- to watch films in original - to read books in original - to go on holiday abroad

- to travel everywhere in the world - to make friends with people of different countries

- to communicate with people of different countries

- to get access to the Internet

So, we must study English!
